STOP PROPERTY TAX HIKES
Property taxes keep going up. The City is increasing debt and not for
services that are a priority for the residents of Regina North West. I
am opposed to the City taking on more debt.
Debt = Higher Property Taxes
In order for the City to move forward with their proposed plans, property taxes will need to be increased by 12%- 15%. According to City documents, the needed property tax increase on a $315k assessed home to pay principal and interest on the debt are:
- Downtown Library: $62
- Aquatic Centre (original estimate): $40
- Waste Water Treatment: $64
- Water Network Expansion: $80
- Remaining Unfunded SAF Projects: $50
- Total: $296/year
Meanwhile, core services that we expect from the City are being neglected: streets repair and expansion, crumbling sidewalks, incomplete sidewalks, clean water... Not to mention the need to address increased traffic in the north west as well as crime!
VOICE FOR REGINA NORTH WEST
Regina's North West (Ward 9) needs an advocate for the services that are important in the north west part of the city: safe streets and parks, pedestrian walkways, addressing traffic, drainage... I will be a voice for Regina North West on Regina City Council.

About Tanis Wilder
My name is Tanis Wilder. I grew up in Regina North West - Ward 9, and like many of you, chose to raise my family in this part of the city.
I serve as Academic Chair for the Schools of Digital Innovation and Creative Media at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. I operated my own e-learning business for 10 years, before moving into higher education.
I love living and working in Regina. And I know you do too. But things are getting out of hand. Property taxes keep going up, services are declining and crime has become a problem.
I am running for Regina City Council to get spending under control. Regina's North West (Ward 9) needs a voice on city council to prioritize services that are important in this part of the city.
On a personal side, I am married and have two teenaged girls. We also have the cutest cat named Westley (we are Princess Bride fans). In my spare time, I am an avid reader. This year I have borrowed 130 e-books and audio books from the Regina Public Library. If you want a good read recommendation, let me know!
